Seeking Lead Hemp Grower for 6-month period with option for an additional 6 months. Must be able to relocate. Must be onsite to monitor 7 days a week. Perform all the tasks in the grow cycle, including transplanting, feeding, cloning, cropping, inventory management, etc.
Scope of Work –
Ensure that the quantity, mix, and yield of strains planted will meet goals and specifications.
Set cultivation goals and performance metrics and criteria.
Establish planting, harvesting schedules, including many harvests per year at multiple grow sites.
Ensure accurate management communication and reporting to management team.
Physical Requirements –
Extended time standing, sitting, walking, bending and reaching.
Close visual focus required.
This position requires the extended and repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers to cut and manipulate small objects.
Required to stand for extended periods of time, lifting of objects on a regular basis, and daily repetitive tasks.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for 100 feet.
Monitor all plants and plant health and identify / correct all plant-related problems.
Previous hemp growing experience.
Self-motivated and ability to work / manage time independently.
Must be experienced in transplanting, defoliation, topping, irrigating, pest management, harvesting, drying, trimming, waste disposal and inventory management.
Manage plant scheduling to accurately project all growing requirements on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to maximize high-quality yield with efficiency and attention to production costs. Execute pest management program including elimination of all types of mold, powdery mildew, mites, root aphids, fungus gnats, etc. Maintain irrigation, climate control systems, cleaning, sanitation, hazard action plans and alert management if there are issues. Implement routine daily activities required to ensure plant maintenance and general operation of the cultivation areas.
Desired Experience and Skills
Looking for a professional with a background in horticulture, agriculture or commercial grow facility production and at least 1 years’ experience working in larger scale hemp or marijuana production operation.
Minimum of 1 years of lead grower experience working in a hemp farm operation. Operations management mindset as well as a team builder. Mastery of soil or peat cultivation methods and irrigation methods (hand-water, sub-irrigation, drip systems). Knowledge of large-scale commercial plan plant growing including crop rotation management, nutrient requirements, mediums, light requirements, and environmental controls.
Knowledge of plant diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies and toxicity. Advanced knowledge of the hemp plant. Must be adept at industry best-practices and current on new techniques and insight with respect to nutrient of individual strains, high yield recipes, controlled stress environments to different lighting systems and set ups.
