Client is seeking a highly qualified Cannabis Processor for an Illinois based cannabis processing center. Client is focused on using agroecological principles and minimizing our carbon footprint in all aspects of its operations. This job opportunity is for a Cannabis Lead Processor/Extractor (a.k.a. Lab Manufacturing Manager), who will oversee the day-to-day operations of an Illinois based Cannabis Processing/Extraction facility.

Position Description:

The Lead Processor will oversee and be responsible for all types of extracts from our cannabis products. The Lead Processor is accountable for all aspects of the laboratory operations and employee management. As such, the Lead Processor needs to have a broad knowledge of the sciences, laboratory and facility operations including intake, prepping, extracting, processing, packaging, and delivery. Lead Processor must monitor and maintain production facility in accordance with compliance standards set by the State of Illinois. As an ancillary responsibility, the Lead processor will have management duties over ~ two junior technicians.


Ensures the safe, accurate, and timely production of products
Ensures consistency of product through quality control testing and procedures
Preparation of equipment and plant materials for extraction
Execution of extraction and processing in accordance with state and local standards
Operation of sophisticated extraction equipment
Maintaining strict inventory records of all plant materials, chemicals, and equipment
Proficient use of seed to sale software, (prior experience preferred but not required)
Operating, maintaining, adjusting and repairs to extraction equipment
Storing supplies, equipment and disposal of waste according to guidelines
Oversee/ensure the cleaning and sanitation of all production equipment, work surfaces, and tools
Maintaining material safety data sheets for all chemicals and products
Ensures cleanliness, safety and efficiency of the production area
Following all standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding product creation and lab safety
Assist in packaging and labeling of finished products
Works with testing laboratory as defined by state guidelines
Provides frequent technical training and coaching for team members
Participate in developing and implementing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to advance the company’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives
Make recommendations regarding hiring, discipline, termination, or advancement of employees
Ensures compliance with state and local regulations and testing requirements; develops SOPs to ensure safety, quality, and consistent processes

College degree in Chemistry or equivalent highly preferred, or equivalent industry experience required
At least 3-5 years’ experience managing a lab setting and equipment. Cannabis industry experience a plus.
Competent with extraction methods as well as the purification, separation and isolation of various compounds of cannabis
Data entry, data management
Demonstrated ability to apply technical and product-related information in a professional consultative manner
Proficiency with MS Office and familiar with sales tracking and reporting software
Strong business acumen including excellent communication, interpersonal, and persuasive skills

Must be 21 years of age to apply
Must comply with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
Physical Requirements – Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull and balance up to 50lbs. (100 lbs. with assistance) and must be able to do so with extreme care and caution when working with plants and product
