A hemp growing and processing company based in Eddyville, Kentucky in search of a strong candidate with hemp or cannabis experience to help lead our business.

We will be harvesting and drying its hemp crop starting in September, and will be hiring a candidate in the month of August or early September for a permanent position. This is a salaried position for an Operations Manager located in the heart of hemp country in West Kentucky. We are in search of candidates with at least five years of experience in operational management, and two years of experience in the hemp industry. Experience with large-scale hemp or cannabis farming and extraction/food processing are a plus. The candidate must be or become familiar with all the state’s and federal regulations and restrictions, must have a clean background.

Detail of Responsibilities

· Weekly work hours: 40+ hours or as needed

· Assist in managing large-scale outdoor hemp cultivation, harvesting, drying, logistics, and sales

· Ensure all operations are carried on in an appropriate, time-sensitive, and cost-effective way

· Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices

· Purchase materials, plan inventory and oversee efficiency

· Help the organization’s processes remain legally compliant with Federal and State Regulations while planning for future Industry Standards

· Formulate strategic and operational objectives

· Examine financial data and use them to improve profitability

· Manage budgets and forecasts

· Perform quality controls and monitor production key performance indicators

· Develop familiarity with Seed-to-Sale enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, production logs

· Manage our packing, shipping and product production schedules and processes

· Manage production schedule in concert with partner laboratories for Certificates of Analysis for all products.

· Recruit, train and supervise and be responsible over staff, including the harvest crews

· Facility maintenance and troubleshooting as necessary

· Create, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for all areas of the business

· Optimize employee efficiencies and work flow management

· Understand compliance with all HR policies including confidentiality and non-disclosure

· Develop SOP’s for employees and implement training schedules

· Maintain a clean and organized work environment

· Reporting: End of week report


· Excellent knowledge of MS Office

· Proven work experience as operations manager or similar role

· Start-up experience & leadership skills

· Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management

· Experience budgeting and forecasting

· Familiarity with business and financial principles

· Excellent communication skills

· Leadership ability

· Outstanding organizational skills

· High School education and minimum of 2 years of college education

· Must be able to read, write & speak English

· Must have accountability, proactive behavior and strong attention to detail

· Physical aptitude and health necessary to perform manual labor tasks required for the proper management of a large-scale agricultural operation

Preferred Qualifications

· Degree in Business, Operations Management, Agriculture, Food Processing or related field is a plus

· Knowledge of large-scale outdoor commercial plant cultivation (40+ acres) including nutrient requirements, mediums, light requirements, temperature control, air flow, etc.

· Ability to operate heavy machinery

· Knowledge and experience of food grade or FDA compliance procedures

· Possession of a Kentucky Commercial Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one

· Knowledge of plant diseases, insects and fungi, as well as plant treatment option

· Advanced knowledge of hemp or cannabis plant and genetics


· 5+ years of experience in Operational Management preferred

· 2+ years of experience in Hemp or Cannabis Industry preferred


· Salary Range: $60-$90k per year depending on experience


· You are at least 21 years of age

· You have no felony convictions

· You are willing to participate in a background check

· You are willing to relocate and can start in the month of August 2019

· You are trustworthy and hardworking with references to back that up

· You have reliable transportation.
