Duties and Responsibilities: Consult with clients on cannabis specific work including inventory, GAAP financial statements, 280E and 471 compliance and structuring
Oversee the preparation of IRS Forms 8300, 1120 and 1065
Communicate and interface with clients
Research relevant tax issues and resolutions/recommendations for those issues
Research relevant financial statement issues and resolutions/recommendations for those issues
Stay abreast of developments and changes in Federal, state and local laws
Ability to write articles and market our cannabis services
Identify, train and supervise Other professionals including running in-house seminars to disseminate knowledge
Work with other members of the firm to optimize the firm’s ability to service clients with international tax and accounting needs
Participate in essential tax and accounting department functions including designing and implementing educational programs, identify and disseminate information concerning international tax law changes and developments, including, where appropriate, to the firm’s client base and/or media and professional publications
Manage planning, workflow, and execution of engagements
Manage multiple client assignments and projects concurrently with assigned teams
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and client personnel
Correspond with client, team members, and Partner on work status and inquiries
Identify tax planning and service opportunities
Respond to inquiries from IRS and other tax authorities
Supervise, mentor and develop less experienced tax staff by providing on-going and regular feedback
Be a career coach and mentor for less experienced staff
Participate in professional development seminars and deliver intermediate to complex training
Assist with special projects as needed
